Winfire is an Internet software company committed to simplifying
consumers' Internet experience by enabling them to get information and
services from the Web faster and with less effort. Through its flagship
product, the Winfire Browser
Assistant, Winfire also creates unique
desktop branding opportunities enabling Internet marketers to brand the
user's desktop by delivering a valuable new tool to consumers.
Company History
Pursuing their vision of creating a more relevant and efficient Internet
experience for consumers, three executives from the online advertising
management giant, AdForce, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADFC), came together in April
1999 to create Winfire. Applying their backgrounds in online and
consumer marketing, founders David Kopp, Chad Steelberg, and Ryan
Steelberg formed Winfire to create smart, simple consumer Web
applications that improve users' online experience. The company obtained
$4.5 million in first-round funding from IMI III, an Orange County
venture fund, and began focusing efforts on product development and
building the necessary strategic partnerships with content and
E-commerce partners.
Product Description
The Winfire Browser Assistant is a lightweight, standalone application
that works in conjunction with a user's Web browser to make getting
information on the Internet simpler and faster, while strengthening the
relationship between online merchants and consumers. Small enough to fit
into the Windows "Start" bar, Winfire's intuitive, highly
customizable Browser Assistant can passively monitor active Web content,
as well as provide direct, one-click access to a user's most frequently
visited content providers and services. Winfire's content and
distribution providers capitalize on Winfire's unparalleled desktop
branding opportunity by placing their company and its services directly
in front of consumers every time they use their computers.
